Self-Service Portals More Popular Than Ever

Eighty-two percent of employees across America have access to a self-service portal where they have the ability to view their pay and benefits information at their convenience. This is according to the 2017 "Getting Paid In America" survey conducted by the American Payroll Association during National Payroll Week.

In a follow-up question, more than 64 percent said they prefer to access their pay and benefits data through a desktop computer at work or at home. Laptops and smartphones were also popular methods of accessing their employee self-service portal.

According to Lisa Sterling, chief people officer at Ceridian, "The employee experience becomes more personalized when individuals have scheduling, time tracking, pay, and other people-oriented information at their fingertips. By taking ownership of their work-life blend, employees feel valued and empowered – which makes work life better."

The “Getting Paid In America” survey is conducted annually during National Payroll Week. More than 34,000 employees responded to the 2017 survey, providing insight into various payroll and time and attendance trends impacting the American workplace. To view the full survey results, visit
